A diamond price includes; cost of the rough diamond, the cost of cutting the diamond, and all other costs essential to transform the rough diamond into a saleable diamond. After the diamond is cut and polished, generally it  is sent to a reputed diamond grading company to grade it on the basis of color, cut, clarity, and weight. At each level the price of diamond increases. Before reaching the retailer, a diamond goes through the hands of many people. The retailer does not buy the diamond directly from the mining company. After the diamond is mined, cut, polished and graded it riches the primary market. From the primary market the diamond then goes to wholesalers and from there it reaches the retailers. By the time it reaches the retailer, the price of the diamond increases considerably. Finally the retailer adds another 30%-35% to the cost before selling it to a customer.
